My editor just asked me to write the name of the other main character to use in the magazine.
These three characters are so hard to write… T_T

Since people have been asking me about my calligraphy, here’s a few recent ones I’ve done.

These are mostly my novels titles, character names, and stuff I’m writing for the magazine publication of one of my novels that comes out in early May.

(The last one is on purpose. One of the main characters in that one is a ghost…)

LIGHT READING

nicklausse:

On April 12th, the-voice-leading-nazi posted this.

Writers are being arrested. This is not okay. Although, as an American, I really do not have a say in this, I thought it might be good to just read up a little about the situation there. I haven’t really been able to find very much so far, especially on what is happening right now. Anything I find in the future will be tagged #wtf China? Read and learn with me!

Media Censorship in China

"…the government also employs a diverse range of methods to induce journalists to censor themselves. Such tactics include dismissals and demotions, libel lawsuits, fines, arrests, and the shuttering of news outlets.

"Journalists and activists who overstep boundaries can also face prison; as of February 2014, thirty journalists and seventy netizens are imprisoned, according to Reporters without Borders.”

Thanks for gathering the articles. I’ve just finished “censoring” my works not long ago and haven’t really bother to read any articles on this yet. Frankly I don’t really want to know what kind of lies or seemingly righteous excuses the Chinese government is throwing out. I’m one of those on the frontier of this whole thing anyways and I get to see it first-hand.

Since we writers have all been given very specific instructions and a HUGE list of “sensitive” words that cannot appear in any form, let me tell you how ridiculous it is. Keep in mind these are just some examples.

  • Any stories with background set in years 1911-1949 are considered sensitive subject. Especially if it’s set in 1927, it has to disappear.
  • If the work involves gangsters and the likes, they MUST BE 100% the bad guys.
  • The number 89 and 64 are strictly prohibited.
  • A huge amount of vocabulary must be censored. One of them on the list is the character for bed. Yes, I’m not kidding. We are not allow to mention the word bed now.
  • For LGBT literature, anything that goes beyond holding hands is considered vulgar and must be deleted.
  • No current political issues can be discussed.

I am not fucking kidding. There’s a lot more unreasonable crap, you don’t even know the half of it. If they actually just want to get rid of some disgusting and unacceptably horrible stuff, I would support it, but this?!

It’s the younger generations that are being attacked right now. Let’s face it, it’s some sort of thought control from the authorities. It hits the Classical Literature too, which saddens me most. We have a 5000+ years of history and literature legacy. The Cultural Revolution has ruined enough. Have they not learnt a lesson?!

Also on the major social networking platforms in China, a lot of messages about the whole Internet Purification are being locked down and deleted by authorities. More than half of all online publications have been retracted and deleted already, including finished and unfinished works. It’s tough on everybody, readers and writers.

I probably shouldn’t think this way, but I’m kinda counting on the backfire.

So I finally felt better last night, and now I don’t.

It’s only been four days, and people are betraying and selling each other out. Some people use this opportunity to get back on the writers they don’t like. A writer that I respect a great deal has gone missing. Some of the best ones are being reported despite the fact they’ve been loved all along. Personal blogs and emails are being monitored.

I mean, I understand why this can’t be compared to the Cultural Revolution, but you gotta admit it feels bizarrely like it.

I just can’t believe people are turning against each other already.

Just realized I’ve lost a large amount of followers in the past few days.

I apologize to those who are still here for all these posts about the whole censorship issues and I’m really happy that you’re still here!

I know those posts are not music-related, but literature is just as important as music to me, if not more. I’ll recover soon! Promise!
